Meetings

Meetings are held on the last Friday of each month from noon to 1:30pm Pacific Time. We do not have a December meeting.

See our Facebook page for announcements and topics of upcoming meetings.

Currently we meet on the Zoom platform, but in person once every quarter (see schedule below). The meeting link is available in a notice sent to our email list, and on our Facebook page.

From July 2020 through August 2021 we held a series of Zoom conversations titled "Learning from Black Pastors." These recordings are on YouTube but are unlisted. If you are interested in viewing any of them, you may request a link by emailing dave@mosaixpdx.org.

Looking ahead, we want to focus on two major challenges for the health of Jesus' church:

  • Discipleship challenge: Are we training all believers to obey everything Jesus commanded (Matthew 28:18-20)? Are we warning and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us, so as to present them to God, mature in their relationship to Christ (Colossians 1:28)? Are we helping each person follow Jesus, so that he can develop them into fishers for people (Matthew 4:19)? Are we teaching each person to abide in Jesus, so that they will bear abundant fruit (John 15:5)?
  • Unity challenge: Are we sacrificing personal preferences for the sake of peace and unity within our own congregations? Are we energetically pursuing unity with other families of believers, especially those who may differ from us in color, culture, class, and creed (secondary beliefs)? Are we willing to face the fact that "the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles" because of our hypocrisy and lack of unity (Romans 2:24; Isaiah 52:5)? Are we willing to take meaningful steps to embody Jesus' prayer that we be one (John 17:21-23) and that we love one another in publicly visible ways (John 13:36)?

Emphasizing one of these while neglecting the other will not produce the desired outcome. Only bodies of maturing, reproducing disciples, demonstrating solidarity in love, will provide credible testimony of our Lord to the culture around us.

Much of our attention over the past 7 years has been given to the unity challenge. Beginning in 2025 we’re leaning into the discipleship challenge with a series of conversations we call “Mind the Roots!” We believe that fostering context-specific disciple making strategies in our local churches will lead to more genuine unity and greater collaboration.

All meetings are on Zoom, last Friday of the month, 12:00-1:30pm PT, with the exception of March, June, and September, when we’ll meet in person. You may request access to any of our past meeting recordings through our contact page. Here's the planned meeting schedule for 2025.
